Each month Hunger Task Force is honored to recognize an individual or group who go above and beyond in their service to the organization. From food sorting and building healthy food boxes for seniors to helping individuals shop the Mobile Market and harvesting at The Farm, volunteers help Hunger Task Force feed people today and support our work in ending future hunger.
Hunger Task Force Pantry Partner Serves Community with Dignity
Project Concern is a community non-profit center serving low-income residents of Milwaukee County, and the food pantry has been a member of the Hunger Task Force emergency food network for nearly 50 years.
Maxie’s 16th Annual Derby Day Party for Hunger Task Force Raises Record Donation
Maxie’s Derby Day Party was an amazing success, contributing $20,574 to Hunger Task Force, Milwaukee’s Free & Local food bank. Maxie’s remains steadfast in its commitment to supporting Hunger Task Force’s mission of eradicating hunger in our community.
The Farm’s School Garden Wraps Up a Productive Year
The School Garden at the Hunger Task Force Farm serves as a living classroom where students from local inner-city schools experience the full cycle of food production. Through the Garden-to-Plate program, local kids learned about nutrition and agriculture while harvesting over 583 pounds of produce. This hands-on education cultivated healthy habits that will last a lifetime.

‘Summer Meals’ provides 200k+ summertime meals for children in 2021
Summertime is a peak season for childhood hunger as students go without meals they would normally receive at school. To combat summer hunger, the federal Summer Food Service Program (SFSP) provides nutritious meals to children aged 18 or younger during the summer months. Hunger Task Force administers the SFSP in such a large and inclusive way that it’s often dubbed the “Milwaukee Model.”
