Hmong American students find their roots in the School Garden through “Cooking with Culture”
This summer, Hunger Task Force piloted the “Cooking with Culture” initiative, a multi-grade nutrition program that taught students from the Hmong community about healthy eating. Students were introduced to harvesting vegetables from the School Garden and preparing their own meals in the education kitchen.

Each month Hunger Task Force is honored to recognize an individual or group who go above and beyond in their service to the organization. From food sorting and building healthy food boxes for seniors to helping individuals shop the Mobile Market and harvesting at The Farm, volunteers help Hunger Task Force feed people today and support our work in ending future hunger.
Hunger Task Force Supporting More Children and Families Through WIC CIAO Grant
Hunger Task Force hosted a Women, Infants and Children (WIC) Roundtable Discussion at Ascension Ebenezer Health Resource Center. The roundtable discussion served as the kick-off to Hunger Task Force’s $220,760 grant to implement a WIC Community Innovation and Outreach Project (WIC CIAO).
Jason Gottlieb Advances the Hunger Task Force Mission Through Service and Leadership
Jason Gottlieb’s involvement with Hunger Task Force began with an apple harvest, sparking a deep commitment to the organization’s mission. As a board member, volunteer, and advocate, Jason leads with servant leadership, helping to advance strategic initiatives while instilling the values of community service in his family. His dedication extends beyond Hunger Task Force, enriching both the organization and the students he supports at Milwaukee Jewish Day School. Through his advocacy, Jason is helping to feed Milwaukee, one harvest at a time.

Afghan families receive familiar foods from Hunger Task Force
Hunger Task Force is collaborating with the Hanan Refugee Relief Group and Milwaukee Muslim Women’s Coalition to provide customized, culturally-appropriate food boxes to relocated Afghan guests. Culturally appropriate food boxes were delivered to 65 Afghan families who were relocated from Ft. McCoy to Milwaukee.
Hunger Task Force and Marieke Gouda awarded Farm to Food Bank Project Funding
In November 2021, the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) announced the award of more than $7.5 million in funding to Farm to Food Bank Projects for 2022. While funding will support organizations across 29 states and territories, Hunger Task Force – and partner Marieke Gouda – are the sole project from the state of Wisconsin receiving funds.
