Michael Zeka Has Proudly Served as the President of the Hunger Task Force Board of Directors For 16 Years

Hunger Task Force is proud to be Milwaukee’s only Free & Local food bank and Wisconsin’s anti-hunger leader. In celebration of our 50th Anniversary, Hunger Task Force is highlighting “50 Faces of Ending Hunger,” honoring the anti-hunger heroes who champion Free & Local and support our mission to end hunger.

For more than 30% of the time Hunger Task Force has been feeding hungry children, families and seniors, Michael Zeka has served as the president and chairman of the Hunger Task Force Board of Directors and, in fact, became the president at his second board meeting. However, his involvement with the organization goes back even further to include providing legal work pro bono before joining the board.
“Hunger Task Force is a top-notch agency that strives to treat its clientele with dignity,” he said. “As an example, following a major fire at the Patrick Cudahy plant that displaced many employees, Hunger Task Force opened a food pantry on-site to allow those employees who needed it to obtain food in a dignified manner.”
His personal mission aligns with the values of Hunger Task Force, which is why he has been steadfast in his service as president of the board.
“Fighting hunger has always been a cause I am passionate about addressing,” he adds. “There are not many things more basic than feeding people and changing lives in the process.”
Michael takes pride in the fact that serving on the Hunger Task Force Board of Directors is more than a line on a resume. The board is hands-on, provides operational support and serves as a sounding board for leaders within the organization.
He shares that during his time serving as president of the board, he has learned how to be an effective leader. Also, over the years, Michael has been impressed with the leadership shown by CEO Sherrie Tussler.
“She is an incredible manager and very intelligent,” he adds.
He is proud of the growth he’s seen firsthand during his 16 years of service on the board of directors and looks forward to continued success under the new leadership of Matt King come summer.
