Food For Families 2023: Wrapping Up Another Holiday Season of Ending Hunger in Milwaukee
In a year marked by rising food and gas prices, the generosity of the Milwaukee community shined bright through Food For Families – Hunger Task Force’s signature holiday food drive. Led by Johnson Controls’ generous sponsorship for the past 18 years, the 2023 Food For Families campaign provided a crucial safety net of healthy emergency food to thousands of local families, children and seniors.
“The success of Food For Families is a true testament to the incredible generosity of the Milwaukee community,” shared Brenna Holly, Senior Director of Corporate Philanthropy at Johnson Controls. “We’re incredibly proud to have been a part of this collective effort, showcasing the power of collaboration and compassion in the face of need.”
In addition to Johnson Controls’ community support, a network of caring neighbors hosted and generously contributed to over 160 drives across Milwaukee County. To help in these efforts, Hunger Task Force provided a newly designed food drive box and created custom giving pages for local organizations. From spirited workplace competitions to encouraging online donations through Virtual Food Drives, the community raised over 76,000 pounds of food and over $317,000 from October through December.
The spirit of Food For Families, driven by collective action, community partnerships, and Johnson Controls’ leadership, has left a lasting mark. Hunger Task Force is incredibly thankful for all who hosted drives, made an online gift or filled donation boxes with healthy food items.
