- Challenge Start: February 1, 2023
- Challenge End: February 24, 2023
- Challenge Rules: Any school participating in the USDA School Breakfast Program is eligible to participate in the challenge and win prizes. Winners will be determined based on points earned for breakfast activities detailed on the Big Cheese scorecard. Completed scorecards and proof of activities must be submitted by February 28, 2023.
PRIZES & RECOGNITION
First place (receiving $1,000), second place (receiving $750), and third place (receiving $750) prizes will be awarded in each of the following categories.
- Colby – district enrollment greater than 875 students
- Swiss – district enrollment between 275 and 875 students
- Mozzarella – district enrollment less than 275 students

Equipment Assistance Grant
Eligible to apply
All School Food Authorities (SFAs) with an active school nutrition contract with the DPI School Nutrition Team are eligible to apply. USDA awarded Wisconsin a total of $1,103,098 to distribute to School Food Authorities through a competitive grant process. You can use the equipment for your School Breakfast Program, also!
Up to $50,000 for two pieces of equipment
These funds will allow SFAs to purchase equipment to serve healthier meals that meet current meal patterns, with emphasis on more fruits and vegetables in school meals, improve food safety, and expand access.
When to apply
The application period for the FY 2022 NSLP Equipment Assistance Grant opened on December 21, 2022 and will close on February 6, 2023. Qualtrics application links have been sent via email to the Authorized Representative and Food Service Director at each SFA participating in the NSLP.
