Meet Will Skrundz our Donor Database Manager and Hunger Advocate

Mar 26, 2025

Hunger Task Force is 100% community supported and Milwaukee’s only Free & Local food bank. Will Skrundz has served as the organization’s Donor Database Manager for a little over two and a half years.

As the Donor Database Manager, Will executes and oversees the day-to-day activities of the donor database, which include constituent records, gift processing, donor acknowledgements, honors and memorials, queries and reports.

“It puts a smile on my face to come into work and see the donations people made and notes they left in support of our life-changing mission,” said Will. “We want to recognize every gift in a timely manner. Within 48 hours of receipt, we mail a signed tax letter to each donor with a message of gratitude from our CEO.”

In his role, Will also prepares strategic and detailed donor and constituent updates to help the Hunger Task Force Development Team improve stewardship and donor outreach. He also develops a comprehensive annual schedule of mailings, e-solicitations, e-blasts and other development communications and informs the strategy for target audience, criteria and parameters for measuring their success.

“I am constantly evaluating the ROI of our efforts,” adds Will. “I don’t focus heavily on gift amount, but rather the volume of returning and new donors to understand the effectiveness of our solicitations and campaigns.”

With a degree in Sports Management, Will didn’t plan to work for a nonprofit organization. He thought he’d develop his career in community recreation. However, his love for data and systems analysis drew him to a nonprofit role in which he knew the work he is doing daily impacts the community around him.

“One of my favorite parts of my job is going into the community and helping with the distributions of Stockboxes, which are food boxes packed with shelf staple foods for low-income seniors, that community volunteers help us pack in our warehouse and Hunger Task Force staff brings into the community,” says Will. “When you’re out at these distributions, you really feel the appreciation from recipients and get to see them smile knowing they have food to help them get through the month.”

As a native of Southeastern Wisconsin, Will has had an appreciation for the work Hunger Task Force does to feed children, families and seniors in need for most of his life. He feels privileged to be a part of the team working to feed people today and end future hunger.
