Hunger Task Force is proud to be Milwaukee’s only Free & Local food bank and Wisconsin’s anti-hunger leader. In celebration of our 50th Anniversary, Hunger Task Force is highlighting “50 Faces of Ending Hunger,” honoring the anti-hunger heroes who champion Free & Local and support our mission to end hunger.

For nearly 30 years, Hunger Task Force and Hmong American Friendship Association have partnered to combat hunger in the greater Milwaukee area. “It’s such a blessing to work with Hunger Task Force,” said Lo Neng Kiatoukaysy, Executive Director of Hmong American Friendship Association. “All of the hundreds of thousands of pounds of food we’re able to provide to the community fills us and our clients with so much gratitude.”
Hunger Task Force provides culturally relevant food to Hmong American Friendship Organization that brings comfort to clients and helps break the stigma of food insecurity.
“With the large volume of free food we receive from Hunger Task Force, we’re able to be more than a food pantry but a beacon of hope for Southeast Asian, African American, Caucasian and Hispanic residents,” adds Lo Neng. “Having a diverse array of food ensures we meet the dietary needs of all the populations we serve.”
Last year, Hmong American Friendship Association provided free, healthy food to 3,161 residents each month. For many years, Lo Neng has also turned to Hunger Task Force for leadership best practices. “Every organization that treats their staff like family is in for greatness,” he shares. “By seeing and experiencing that work atmosphere, we have been influenced to treat our staff like family too.”
Lo Neng has been with Hmong American Friendship Association for 28 years and has seen firsthand just how transformative our partnership is. Hunger Task Force is proud to be Milwaukee’s only free and local food bank.
