Hunger Task Force Welcomes Three Summer Interns
The principal strength of Hunger Task Force is its compassionate and committed staff. As an anti-hunger organization, Hunger Task Force commits to hiring staff with an array of skills, talents and the cultural competence to best serve our diverse community. Hunger Task Force is excited to welcome three summer interns – Nina, Nadia and Ashlyn – as they assist Hunger Task Force in our mission to end hunger in Milwaukee.
Nina Blade
Summer Meals Intern
Nina is a senior studying marketing at Clayton State University. She joined the Hunger Task Force team for the summer because she has had a pleasant experience volunteering at Hunger Task Force and wants to learn more about the diverse communities the organization supports. In her role, she provides administrative and advocacy support for the nationally recognized Milwaukee Summer Food Service Program. She is responsible for the day-to-day management of supplies, community engagement, outreach service data collection and program monitoring. From her internship experience, she hopes to become an outlet for families to obtain free and healthy food because she knows how important nutrition is as a college athlete.
Nadia Kaster
SNAP-Ed Intern
Nadia is a recent graduate from the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee where she received a bachelor’s degree in biomedical science with a minor in nutritional science and a certificate in integrative and complementary medicine. She joined the nutrition education team because she loves the Hunger Task Force mission and wants to be a part of a team combatting hunger with healthy food. In her role, she helps provide MyPlate nutrition education to adults, families and children in Milwaukee County through recipe sampling at food pantries and Stockbox distribution sites. Upon completing her internship, Nadia hopes to have built a community and cultivated relationships with people who share the same goals as her.
Ashlyn Thome
Summer Meals Intern
Ashlyn is a student at the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee studying public health. Prior to enrolling in the university, she obtained her associates of arts degree from Milwaukee Area Technical College. She is a summer meals intern to get experience working with kids in the community. In her role, she assists in serving summer meals and works to increase participation in the summer meals program. During her internship, she hopes to learn more about what nonprofits have to offer the community and how different departments come together to support the mission.
