Every day, families, individuals and seniors in need turn to Hunger Task Force and its safety net of food pantries, shelters and meal programs for healthy, emergency food. For more than 20 years, Louie Gentine has joined Hunger Task Force in the fight against hunger by donating both cheese and capital so families can receive free food on the day they need it and in the neighborhood they live in.
“Unfortunately, hunger is an issue that far too many people face on a daily basis,” said Louie Gentine, 3rd generation CEO of Sargento. “As a cheese company with a commitment to our community, it’s important that we do our part to ensure individuals and families can put healthy food on the table.”
As a longtime community partner, Sargento turns to Hunger Task Force to help execute a key company goal – solve food insecurity. Knowing the footprint of Hunger Task Force extends throughout the state of Wisconsin, the partnership is an efficient way for Sargento to have a big impact on people facing hunger in countless communities.
“To me, a lot of organizations can provide food, but what makes Hunger Task Force different is the way the organization does – for free – and how it does at a statewide level,” adds Gentine.
Over the past 20 years, Sargento has created two signature programs to support Hunger Task Force’s mission – ‘Touchdowns for Hunger’ with the Green Bay Packers and ‘Double Helping for Hunger’ with the Milwaukee Brewers. In the years to come, Gentine seeks to elevate the company’s sports partnerships to raise awareness of the acute hunger needs in communities within the cheese state so we can all team up to address them.
Since 1992, the company has donated $2.8M to Hunger Task Force and more than 395,000 pounds of natural cheese. Gentine has proudly kept his grandfather’s commitment to community outreach alive through partnerships like the one with Hunger Task Force to provide hunger relief.
