The Neighbors’ Place: Hunger Relief Federation Partner Nourishing Our Central Wisconsin Neighbors
At Hunger Task Force, we are proud to be the founding member of the Hunger Relief Federation – a statewide association of independent food banks and food pantries formed to connect anti-hunger advocate partners throughout the state of Wisconsin to engage and expand our Free, Local, Independent model.
The Neighbors’ Place – the largest food pantry in Marathon County serving 3,212 local households – is a member of the Hunger Relief Federation and one of our strong allies in the fight against hunger in Central Wisconsin.
Sharing our commitment to providing food with dignity, The Neighbors’ Place operates The Market – a choice food pantry – that helps more than 8,000 guests prioritize health and wellness through nutrition in their everyday lives. To take the guesswork out of healthy eating, and eliminate the stigma of shopping at a pantry, each guest is invited to shop the newly renovated market with one of the organization’s volunteers to receive assistance selecting nutritious foods based on their household sizes. If guests cannot make their way to The Market, the team at The Neighbors’ Place will coordinate the delivery of healthy food to them. In 2023, the organization made 1,800 deliveries.
With our help, The Neighbors’ Place has extended its reach in the community to offer Stockboxes for local seniors. A Stockbox is a box of supplementary healthy food for low-income seniors that they receive every month. The Neighbors’ Place has been distributing the supplementary food for just shy of one year.
The Neighbors’ Place is proud to be a member of the Hunger Relief Federation and receives unmatched connections to tools needed to be strong community advocates and timely information to have a keen understanding of what’s happening legislatively.
